Jaya Pramod Panvalkar
Senior Director & Site Leader for NVIDIA Pune Design Centre

Mrs. Jaya Panvalkar, is managing NVIDIA’S Pune Design Center for last 5+ years. She was instrumental in setting up the Pune Design Centre; right from acquisition of PACE Soft Silicon an Irish Multinational. She was the Director and Chief Technology Officer at PACE Soft Silicon for 5 years. The Design Center has grown from 65 people to 750+ in last 7 years. Jaya worked for 23 years at Central Water and Power Research Station (CWPRS), in Pune at Khadakwasla as Joint Director for the last few years of tenure. Jaya was instrumental in co-ordinating US$ 2 Billion worth of United Nations projects at CWPRS, for Hydraulic Instrumentation, coastal research, mathematical model studies & many more. One of the key areas of her contribution is setting up of research labs at more than 25 institutes all over India on GPU based Supercomputing, which include IIT Bombay, Delhi, Madras, Kanpur, leading colleges like VIT, VIIT, MIT, IISERs, IIITs & University of Pune as well as research organizations like IUUCA, NCRA. She is instrumental in building the ecosystem for Parallel Supercomputing Based on GPUs in India with Infosys, Wipro, HCL, CDAC, CRL as service partners. Under her leadership, NVIDIA’s Pune Center received Government of Maharashtra “IT innovation award” - 2008 and MCCIA B.G. Deshmukh “Corporate Social Responsibility award”. She works on Board of Studies (BOS) of University of Pune, NIIT University and Chitkara University.

She completed BE and ME (Electronics and Telecom) from COEP, Pune & M.S. ( Computer Engineering) from Colorado State University , USA as a United Nations fellow & Her Management Expertise has developed through the Senior Executive Management programs at Stanford, USA & ISB, Hyderabad. She is recipient of multiple United Nations Scholarships for advancement in education and technology & has been a National Scholar throughout her education. She has also received several awards including PARAM parallel processing award for special achievement. Multiple Patents and Publications are to her credit. She is married to Pramod Panvalkar and is a mother to one son and one daughter.

Mr. Mateesh Kant Rai
Forbes Marshall Pvt Ltd. Director

Mr. Mateesh Kant Rai has been carrying success under his belt right from his educational journey. He completed his graduate engineering degree in Electronics and Communication and then went to IIM Kolkata for the post graduate course in management. He also went to Standford University for the Executive program in management.

His skillfulness was quickly and correctly identified by the organization and he was made responsible of a small division in the company which was going in loss. He turned the table upside down and that division became the top profit machine within one year. This ripple quickly created a large effect and as a result he, along with key managers, was given the responsibility of a collective managerial experiment of a business unit where the approach was strengthening weaker part of a division to make it successful. His unique approach landed him in the Director’s position even before he entered his forties. He was selected to receive the 4th Indira Engineering Excellence Award for 2012. His family consists of his wife Mamata and daughter Viha.

Mr. Vivek Kotru
Geometric Limited, Director (Global Marketing)

In the early part of his career, Vivek Kotru spent close to 6 years with two of India’s most well-known names in the IT industry. There he learnt the nuances of marketing and business development in the IT services and solutions industry. He won the CEO’s award for business development in his first organization. He got the opportunity to understand the engineering, manufacturing and the supply chain domains while working at these two companies before he decided to move to Geometric Limited in 2006. His first role was marketing functions of all software services business units followed by the marketing function of the engineering services business unit. Then he was made responsible for the business response function for software and engineering services. His most recent role gifted him the responsibility for corporate marketing. Vivek’s journey from marketing for a single business unit to heading the integrated Global Marketing function at Geometric saw him leading from the front and experiment with leadership styles. Vivek has ideated and worked with cross functional teams in the organization to take successful and differentiated offerings to the market and helped reinforce Geometric’s position as a provider of intelligent engineering solutions in a competitive market place. A working culture at Geometric that supports intrapreneurship, has enabled him to contribute to the organizations strategy development at various levels, take risks, be innovative in the context of his role and emerge as a role model for his team. Vivek has an Engineering degree in Metallurgy and an MBA in international marketing. His family comprises of his wife Kamalika and daughter Shivika.

SUNIL HARIBHAU POTE
President Yuva Mitra

Joining Chatrabharati student movement helped Mr Sunil H. Pote to understand the social concerns of rural India. His social perspective underwent further refining while working with Shri Baba Amte, Medha Patkar and joining Narmada Bachao Andolan. He worked as a lecturer in Collage of Social Work Nashik (from 2006-07) and as a Social work Executive in Glaxo India Ltd (from 2002 - 07). He was instrumental in repairing check dams through Community mobilisation and support from Sir Dorabjee Tata Trust. This helped in bringing 1550 hectares of land under irrigation. He brought 800 farmers together and made them realize the importance of collective bargaining by forming a producer company. This company helped in starting first farmers ‘agri mall in Maharashtra. He realized that successful social development can only come by integrating commercial perspective along with hand holding support. For this he formed Yuva Mitra Multi Agro Services Pvt ltd. He founded Yuva Mitra in 1995. The organization initiates constructive activities based on the principles of people centered development Yuva Mitra believes in the people-centered approach of development where people are empowered to become agents of social change. Various programmes have been initiated over the years with community participation. Mr Pote was honored with VASUNDARA MITRA AWARD by Kirloskar Group of company and Club Mahindra. His family consists of wife Manisha and daughter Mukta.

Sunita Dhanawade
Secy & Project Director, Astitva Samaj Vikas and Sanshodhan Sanstha Dist. Sangola.

Sunita Dhanawade was the Fieldwork coordinator and Mobilizer for SHG formation through which she worked for Dalit rights. She frequently met with Mahila Mandals to align her work with their problems. She was the district organizer and regional coordinator which gave her opportunity to network with several PRIs, NGOs & DOs. She was associated with Mahila Rajsatta Andolan. She has received Parivar Sanmanpatra from Mahila Rajsatta Andolan in 2004. She has also worked on the Leadership Development of Co workers. She facilitated Capacity Building, Effective Functioning and Fostering of WUA under MWSIP. She is also instrumental in project planning & implementation program co-ordination and management, audit & annual report maintenance and developing new projects. Sunita has done BALLB and has been honored with several awards recognizing her noble work for social causes. She received twice The Best Social Activist award, once in 2005 and then in 2011. She was honored with Daughter of Maharashtra award from Nari Samta Manch Pune in 2011. Recently she received Smruti Samman Puraskar from Tulshiram Bansode Pratishthan, Sangola in 2012. She is married to VS Dhanawade and is a loving mother to has a son.

Mrs. Chandrika Shambhusingh Chauhan
Founder Chairman Udyogvardhini

Chandrika Chauhan was born and brought up in Gujrat. Securing first rank in Diploma Tailoring in 1992-93 only marked the beginning of her challenging and inspiring professional journey. The nascent years included her working for consumer forum (1994-95) followed by working for Jankalyan Samity (RSS) in slum areas (1995-97). She then worked as a corporator in Solapur Municipal Corporation (1997-2007) while briefly working for Matru Mandir Gurukul alongside (1997-98). Her current responsibilities include being a legal adviser for DAV law College Solapur, an active member of Gramin Mahila Dakshata Samity Solapur, a telephone advisor committee member Solapur, an advisor of women’s technological institute, an active member of family violence Samiti Solapur, Chief member of Lokmangal Pratishthan Samiti and a member of Pakhar Sankul Solapur. In 2003 she started Udyogvardhini initially aimed at making rural women independent. The institute today caters to training women, forming self help groups and giving free meals to students, patients, old people and women through the money collected by donations. The institute today has over 3000 women associated with it and has helped over 300 rural women with independent business.

She has received several awards for her service to humanity. To quote a few names; Aadarsha Mata Purskar from Shivalal Shah Matru Mandir Gurukul ( Hiraj), Aadarsha Corporator Puraskar from Rigvedi Brahmin Union Solapur, Disha Institution Awards from Indian Vipan Vicas company, Late Ramabai Ranade Award from Sevasadan Pune, Late Mamasaheb Jagdale Award Barshi, Sushila Award Nashik, Bhavsar Vision Sanman Solapur from Yashoda Foundation Vision Career Centre, Nalanda Award from P.R.Friends Family of lower class Social Institution Solapur etc. She currently resides in Solapur with her husband and children (two sons and a daughter).

Lifetime Achievement Award 2012


The Praj Mahaintrapreneur Lifetime Achievement Award is being conferred upon Dr. Shardchandra Gokhale. Dr. Gokhale is an eminent Social Scientist of International repute. He has worked in the field of social development primarily in child welfare, leprosy and ageing. He is also a recipient of UN Scholarship. He has to his credit more than 30 books published in Marathi and English. He was the editor of the reputed Marathi Daily, Kesari and was a Trustee on the Sakal Trust. He was also Assistant Director, Social Welfare Department, Maharashtra State and Executive Director of Indian Social Welfare Institute. He was also the Hon. Professor at TISS. He has been honored with many National and International awards.

The awards will be presented in an award function on December 15th, 2012 at the hands of Chief Guest Mr. R. Gopalakrishnan, Director, Tata Sons in the presence of Mr. Deepak Satwalekar, former MD, HDFC Life Insurance Co. Ltd. and Mr. Pramod Chaudhari, Executive Chairman, Praj Industries Limited.
